Coutts & Co moves floors to expand and accommodate growing team at Canada Square
22 October 2007
Coutts & Co has moved offices inside 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf. The new office, located on the 28th floor facing South and East, is treble the size of the previous premises on the 34th floor.
The move has been in response to the increase in new business to Coutts, brought about by the significant growth of businesses and the success of individuals in the Canary Wharf area. This has meant that Coutts staff numbers have increased from nine to 17 in just two years. Plans have also been put in place for a further eight staff members by the end of 2009.
Robert Currie, Head of Executive Private Banking at Coutts & Co commented: “At Coutts the number of clients looked after by each Private Banker is kept deliberately low with the aim of providing an exceptional and personal level of service. While the team has already grown by over 50% in the last two years, the rapidly expanding client base has meant that plans are in place to almost treble the original team by the end of 2009.”
The Canary Wharf team serve over 2,000 clients in the Canary Wharf area, typically comprising of financial market professionals such as investment bankers, fund managers, hedge fund managers and private equity firms.
Currie continued: “Our new premises were needed to accommodate the growing team, but they have also allowed us the opportunity for a face lift. The new space is designed to appeal to our diverse range of clients, concentrating on craftsmanship and the use of high quality materials and finishes. This is coupled with an efficient and well-designed use of space delivering a warm, discrete, sophisticated and personal ambience.”
Coutts City office also moved to new premises at “the Gherkin” in February this year, (27th Floor, 30 St Mary Axe), in order to accommodate the growing numbers of staff. The team, which looks after both corporate executives and financial market professionals in the City of London, has doubled in size in the last three years and the new office also allows for further staff expansion.
